Plane project

This is a picture of my class working on a plane project. We made the plane by using Popsicle sticks, propeller, rubber band and a straw. After we made our plane. We take the fish line then we take one end of the fish line and stick it to one chair then we take the other end and stick it to the other chair. But before we do this we have to attach the plane through the fish line. Then all we have to do is wind the regular rubber band and see how many winds it takes from one chair to the other chair without it banging on it. We also changed the rubber band. I learned that the thicker the rubber band the further it goes. We tried a thick rubber band a skinny rubber band. Then we tried to rubber bands which was really cool because when you try to thick rubber band at a time it goes twice as fast. The two skinny rubber bands needed more winds. We also tried to see how many winds it took for it to get half way. Then we did a n experiment to see who could find the rubber band or rubber bands that took the least amount of winds to get from one chair to another. We also learned about potential and kinetic energy. Potential energy is stored energy and kinetic energy is motion energy. An example for potential energy is when your about to let the airplane go. But Kinetic energy is when the airplane is flying through the fish line. This is what I learned in the plane project.
